Voidplane Alpha 2.1 UI Update Released!

Hello everyone and welcome to yet another Voidplane devlog! Today I released the Alpha 2.1 "UI Update". Let's take a look at what's new!

MAIN MENU

In the last version I noticed it was a little bit of a hassle to exit the game after playing, so I decided to create a menu screen to help out with that! From here you can access the game, play around with settings, read about all the new features in the new update and quit the game. There is also a new soundtrack and wind sound effects that now play when the menu screen is open. Wind sounds can also be heard while playing the game, but there is no soundtrack as of right now.

If you select the settings option, it will allow you to change the settings of the game to suit your playing style and system preferences. These settings will also always be saved, so when you return to play (I have no idea why you'd do that, content is almost nonexistent right now) all of your settings should be as they were last time.

GAME PAUSING

The game can now be paused when you hit the escape key. From here you can resume the game either by hitting escape again or clicking resume, access the same settings that were accessible in the main menu and also exit to the main menu. Not much else to be said about that ig. Took me too long to get this working, I'll tell ya that much.

DEATH SCREEN

That's right! It is now possible to die in the game. Once your health goes down to zero you will die, causing this piece of UI to appear. Once hitting respawn you will respawn back at your base at the respawn point, which is currently a blue box. As of right now you can't move your respawn point, but I'm planning to change that.

CONCLUSION

Alright! I think that wraps up this times devlog! It might not seem like a lot, but getting this done in two days without almost any prior C# experience was no joke, but I think I'm really starting to get the hang of it. Don't be surprised if updates slow down however, since I don't want to burn myself out. I'm just super excited and passionate about this project and I want to see it get made. If you have any questions or feedback don't hesitate to let me know what ya think!

Well cya!
