Voidplane 2.2 Save and Load Update Released!


Hello fellas and welcome back to another Voidplane Devlog. Been working my butt off for this one, even though this may seem like a relatively small update. You can now save and load multiple worlds! After some tutorials, research online and some help on the Unity forum I have managed to create a versatile saving and loading system that will allow you to create multiple folders for your worlds. Let's take a look at how it works.

SAVING AND LOADING


Now when you hit the play button, instead of opening the game you get greeted by this world manager screen. Here you can create a new world by giving it a name and hitting create or load an existing world from the dropdown under "load world" and hitting the load button. When hitting the create button, the game will create a new folder in the game files which will then store all of your game's data, making it simple to manage and load up again. I also wanted to go this route since it would be nice for this game to have mod support. Sure, there are a bunch of bugs that still need to fix with this system since I built it from the ground up, but overall it works pretty well. I have happened to have run into some issues in development with this however, so please let me know if you find something strange.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW!

Alrighty then, that's really it for now. I know it may not seem like a lot, but it's good to have this system setup now, so that the foundation for the game is there. Also expect the next update to be relatively small. I worked super hard on this one and I need some time to wind down. Next update will mainly be patching up a few bugs here and there.
